10 BIBLICAL LESSONS ABOUT THE AUTHORITY, TRUTH, POWER, AND NECESSITY OF GOD’S WORD

Every generation must decide where it will go for truth. The world offers changing opinions. Religion often adds human traditions. Personal feelings rise and fall. But God has spoken through His Word.

Biblicalist does not exist to replace the Bible or to make people dependent upon a website. It exists to point people back to Scripture—to open it, read it, search it, believe it, obey it, and test everything by what God has said.

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

MATTHEW 4:4 · KJV

01

WHY BIBLICALIST?

MAN SHALLLIVE BYEVERY WORD

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

God’s Word is not optional religious reading. It is necessary spiritual food. As the body depends upon bread, the inner life depends upon what God has spoken.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
DEUTERONOMY 8:3 · KJV

“Man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.”

JOB 23:12 · KJV

“I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

Jesus spoke these words while physically hungry in the wilderness. Satan tempted Him to use divine power to turn stones into bread. Christ answered that human life is more than physical survival. Bread sustains the body, but dependence upon God and obedience to His Word sustain the whole person.

The Bible is therefore not an accessory to the Christian life. God’s Word feeds faith, corrects thought, exposes sin, reveals Christ, gives wisdom, and directs the path.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Modern people carefully feed the body while allowing the soul to starve. We plan meals, buy groceries, and make time to eat, yet many who call themselves Christians can go days without opening Scripture.

We consume hours of entertainment, opinions, news, and social media. The mind is constantly fed, but not necessarily with truth.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“Reading the Bible is helpful, but it is not essential as long as I attend church and believe in God.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

Church attendance is important, but no sermon can replace personal contact with Scripture. A believer who only receives secondhand truth remains dependent upon what other people choose to teach.

Spiritual strength cannot be sustained indefinitely on occasional exposure to the Bible.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Give the Word of God a real place in your daily life. Do not wait until you feel spiritual. Open the Bible because you need truth more than you need another opinion.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

If your spiritual condition reflected your present intake of Scripture, would you be well fed or starving?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Choose a fixed time each day. Begin with one biblical book. Read the actual passage slowly before reading anyone’s explanation. Ask: What has God said? What does this reveal? What must I believe or obey?

02

WHY BIBLICALIST?

GOD HASMAGNIFIEDHIS WORD

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

God has placed extraordinary honor upon His Word. Therefore Scripture must stand above human personalities, traditions, institutions, experiences, and opinions.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
PSALM 12:6 · KJV

“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.”

ISAIAH 40:8 · KJV

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

God’s Word is inseparable from His truth and character. He is faithful to what He has spoken.

If God has magnified His Word, no human voice may be placed above it. A preacher may be respected, but he is not infallible. A church may have a long history, but age does not make every tradition true. The final question must be: What saith the Scripture?

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Modern Christianity often revolves around influential personalities. People defend speakers, ministries, denominations, and traditions before examining what the Bible actually teaches.

Popularity cannot give authority to error. Truth is not established by followers, views, emotion, or institutional approval.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“My church has always taught this, so it must be biblical.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

Tradition can preserve truth, but tradition can also preserve error. Jesus rebuked religious leaders when their tradition made the commandment of God ineffective.

Every tradition must remain beneath Scripture.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Honor faithful teachers, but reserve final authority for God’s Word. Be willing to correct any belief when the clear teaching of Scripture proves it wrong.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Is there any teacher, tradition, church, or personal opinion that you would find difficult to question even if Scripture challenged it?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Take one belief you strongly hold and identify the passages that support it. Read those passages in context. Begin with the text and allow it to form the belief.

03

WHY BIBLICALIST?

THE WORLDSWERE FRAMEDBY GOD’S WORD

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

God’s Word is not weak information. It carries divine authority and accomplishing power. The universe itself exists because God spoke.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
PSALM 33:6 · KJV

“By the word of the LORD were the heavens made.”

ISAIAH 55:11 · KJV

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

Genesis repeatedly says, “And God said.” Light appeared. The heavens were formed. The earth brought forth life. Creation came into existence through the command of God.

Scripture therefore introduces us to a God whose speech is effective. His written Word reveals, commands, convicts, comforts, corrects, and equips.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Modern people often treat the Bible as an outdated collection of religious ideas while treating human theories and cultural opinions as unquestionable.

Human voices may be loud, but they did not frame the worlds.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“The Bible is only powerful when I feel emotionally moved while reading it.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

The authority of Scripture does not depend upon our emotional response. A command remains true when we dislike it. A promise remains true when we feel uncertain.

Our feelings must be brought under the truth of the Word.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Approach Scripture with reverence. You are receiving the testimony of the God who created heaven and earth.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Do you approach Scripture as the authoritative Word of the Creator, or as suggestions you may accept only when they agree with you?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Read Genesis 1 and mark every occurrence of “God said.” Ask what the chapter teaches about the relationship between God’s Word, His authority, and His power.

04

WHY BIBLICALIST?

THY WORDIS TRUTH

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

God’s Word is the fixed standard of truth. Culture changes, feelings fluctuate, and human understanding is limited, but Scripture remains true.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
PSALM 119:160 · KJV

“Thy word is true from the beginning.”

JOHN 8:31–32 · KJV

“If ye continue in my word… ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

Jesus prayed that His disciples would be sanctified through truth. Christ identified the Father’s Word as truth.

Truth is not created by preference. Something does not become right because many people approve it, and it does not become false because society rejects it.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Our age commonly says, “Live your truth,” as though each person can define reality for himself.

Scripture calls us away from self-created truth and back to what God has revealed.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“The Bible may be true for Christians, but everyone has a different truth.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

If God is Creator and Judge, His truth is not limited to those who already believe it.

The Bible’s claims about God, sin, Christ, salvation, and judgment address all humanity.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Stop asking only whether a teaching feels affirming or popular. Ask whether it agrees with the full witness of Scripture.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

When Scripture conflicts with your feelings, which one normally becomes your final authority?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Identify one issue where culture speaks loudly. Search the relevant biblical passages, read their context, and write a conclusion based on Scripture.

05

WHY BIBLICALIST?

BORN AGAINBY THEWORD OF GOD

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

God uses His Word to reveal sin, proclaim Jesus Christ, communicate the Gospel, and bring sinners to saving faith.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
JAMES 1:18 · KJV

“Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth.”

1 CORINTHIANS 15:3–4 · KJV

“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures… and rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

New birth is the work of God. It is not achieved through moral improvement, ceremony, family background, or human effort.

Scripture reveals why salvation is necessary, exposes sin, presents Christ’s death and resurrection, and calls sinners to repent and believe.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Modern Christianity often replaces the Gospel with general inspiration: believe in yourself, become a better person, pursue your purpose, or expect a breakthrough.

Encouragement cannot substitute for the biblical Gospel.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“As long as a message mentions Jesus and makes people feel hopeful, it is the Gospel.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

The Gospel has definite content. Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again according to the Scriptures.

A message that removes sin, the cross, the resurrection, and faith in Christ is not the apostolic Gospel.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Make sure your understanding of salvation comes from Scripture. Rest in Jesus Christ and His finished work.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Can you clearly explain from Scripture what Christ has done, why salvation is needed, and how a sinner is saved?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Read John 3, Romans 3, 1 Corinthians 15:1–4, and Ephesians 2:8–9. Write the Gospel using the truths found in those passages.

06

WHY BIBLICALIST?

FAITHCOMETH BYHEARING

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

Biblical faith does not grow from wishful thinking or emotional excitement. Faith comes through hearing and receiving the Word of God.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
PSALM 119:105 · KJV

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

COLOSSIANS 3:16 · KJV

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

Faith has content. It responds to what God has revealed concerning His Son.

Scripture gives promises to believe, commands to obey, warnings to heed, and truth by which circumstances must be understood.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Many modern messages tell people to “have faith” without identifying the object or foundation of that faith.

Biblical faith is confidence in God according to His Word. It does not force God to fulfill promises He never made.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“Strong faith means believing intensely that the outcome I want will happen.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

Faith is not the power of positive expectation. It is taking God at His Word.

The strength of faith rests not in the intensity of the believer’s feelings, but in the faithfulness of God.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Feed faith with Scripture. When fear, confusion, temptation, or doubt arises, find what God has actually said.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Is your present faith grounded in specific truths God has spoken, or mainly in the outcome you hope to receive?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Select one biblical promise. Read the whole chapter, identify who is speaking, who is addressed, and what is actually promised.

07

WHY BIBLICALIST?

YE DO ERRNOT KNOWINGTHE SCRIPTURES

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

Ignorance of Scripture produces religious error. People may be sincere, educated, and confident while remaining wrong because they do not understand what God has said.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
HOSEA 4:6 · KJV

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

2 TIMOTHY 3:13–15 · KJV

“Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse… But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

The Sadducees were religious leaders, but Christ identified their problem: they did not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

Religious error often grows where verses are ignored, removed from context, or replaced with tradition.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Today people can listen to thousands of sermons and still know little of the Bible itself.

Short clips repeat isolated lines without context, and audiences assume confidence proves truth.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“A teaching must be biblical because the speaker quoted several verses.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

Verses can be quoted while their meaning is distorted. Satan himself quoted Scripture during Christ’s temptation.

A biblical teaching must handle passages according to their context and the whole counsel of God.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Open the passage. Read the context. Compare Scripture with Scripture. Truth does not fear examination.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

How many of your present beliefs have you personally examined from Scripture rather than simply inheriting from another person?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Choose one recent sermon or Christian video. Write down its main claim and every passage used. Read each passage in context.

08

WHY BIBLICALIST?

IT ISWRITTEN

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

Jesus Christ consistently returned people to the written Word. He answered temptation, corrected error, explained doctrine, and exposed unbelief through Scripture.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
MATTHEW 4:4 · KJV

“It is written.”

MATTHEW 12:3 · KJV

“Have ye not read?”

LUKE 10:26 · KJV

“What is written in the law? how readest thou?”

JOHN 10:35 · KJV

“The scripture cannot be broken.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

Jesus is the Son of God, yet during temptation He answered Satan by quoting the written Word.

When religious leaders challenged Him, Christ repeatedly asked whether they had read. After His resurrection, He explained the things concerning Himself in Moses, the prophets, and the Psalms.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Modern spiritual language often begins with “I feel,” “I sensed,” “I heard,” or “God told me.”

Jesus repeatedly directed people to what God had already spoken in Scripture.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“Depending upon written Scripture is less spiritual than following an inner voice or personal revelation.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

Jesus treated the written Word as authoritative and sufficient for answering temptation and correcting error.

The Holy Spirit who inspired the Word does not lead people against the Word He gave.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Learn to answer temptation, confusion, and false teaching with correctly understood Scripture.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

When you make spiritual decisions, do you begin with what is written or with what you presently feel?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Identify one temptation you repeatedly face. Find passages that directly address it, read them in context, and memorize one.

09

WHY BIBLICALIST?

THEY SEARCHEDTHE SCRIPTURESDAILY

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

A noble hearer receives teaching willingly while still testing it by Scripture. No teacher, ministry, or religious claim should be accepted without biblical examination.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
1 THESSALONIANS 5:21 · KJV

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.”

ACTS 18:28 · KJV

Apollos was “shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

The Bereans listened to Paul and Silas with readiness, yet searched the Scriptures daily to determine whether the things preached were true.

The apostles themselves reasoned from Scripture. Apostolic preaching did not ask people to stop examining the text.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Many audiences now follow teachers through personality, loyalty, or online influence.

Questioning a teaching can be treated as rebellion, but faithful examination protects the church from error.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“Testing my pastor’s teaching by Scripture means I do not respect spiritual leadership.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

Faithful pastors should want their teaching examined by Scripture. Their authority is ministerial, not absolute.

Biblical submission never gives a human leader permission to contradict God.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Become a ready but discerning hearer. Listen carefully, open the passage, examine the interpretation, and hold fast what is good.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

Do you search the Scriptures because you want to know whether a teaching is true, or only to confirm what you already prefer?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Begin a Berean notebook. For each sermon, write the main teaching, the passages used, and whether the conclusion faithfully follows from the text.

10

WHY BIBLICALIST?

HOLDING FORTHTHE WORDOF LIFE

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

God’s Word must not only be admired or studied. It must be believed, obeyed, lived, defended, and held forth in a dark world.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
SUPPORTING PASSAGES
2 TIMOTHY 4:2 · KJV

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season.”

JOHN 12:48 · KJV

“The word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.”

JAMES 1:22 · KJV

“Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only.”

UNDERSTANDING THE TEXT

Believers live in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation. Paul called them to shine as lights while holding forth the Word of life.

The Word must shape both message and manner of life. Christians are not faithful when they defend doctrine but live in contradiction to it, nor when they live respectable lives but remain silent about the truth that gives life.

THE MODERN-AGE COMPARISON

Modern churches are often pressured to soften difficult truths, avoid unpopular doctrines, and replace biblical preaching with messages designed mainly to attract or affirm.

A church does not help the world by hiding the Word of life.

A COMMON MISUNDERSTANDING

“To reach modern people, the church must make the Bible less central and less direct.”

BIBLICAL CLARIFICATION

Methods may change, but the message cannot. Love does not require silence about sin, judgment, repentance, Christ, or salvation.

True love speaks God’s truth faithfully and compassionately.

A FAITHFUL RESPONSE

Know the Word. Believe the Word. Obey the Word. Test everything by the Word. Hold forth the Word of life.

PERSONAL REFLECTION

If someone watched your life and listened to your words, would they see a person shaped by Scripture or merely familiar with Christian language?

BACK TO THE BIBLE

Return to the Bible. Read it daily. Study it carefully. Obey it personally. Share it faithfully. Let Biblicalist lead you back to Scripture, never away from it.
