THE GOSPEL THAT SAVES

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

The gospel that saves is the good news that Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again, so sinners can be forgiven and saved by grace through faith in Him.

WHAT THE GOSPEL IS

The gospel is not man trying to reach God by religion, good works, or personal effort. The gospel is the good news of what God has done through Jesus Christ to save sinners.

THE GOSPEL DECLARED
WHY IT IS GOOD NEWS

It is good news because man is guilty before God, but God provided a Savior. Salvation is not based on who we are, what we have done, or how religious we become. It is based on Jesus Christ and His finished work.

SALVATION IS A GIFT
THE GOSPEL SHOWS OUR NEED

Before a person understands salvation, he must understand the problem of sin. Sin is not only doing wrong before people. Sin is rebellion against a holy God. Every person has sinned and needs forgiveness.

THE PROBLEM OF SIN
THE GOSPEL CENTERS ON JESUS CHRIST

The gospel is not centered on a church, a preacher, a ceremony, or a religious system. The gospel is centered on Jesus Christ: who He is, what He did, and what He accomplished for sinners.

Jesus died for our sins. He took the punishment sinners deserve.
Jesus was buried. His death was real.
Jesus rose again. His resurrection proves that He is Lord and Savior.
THE GOSPEL MUST BE RECEIVED BY FAITH

A person is not saved by good works, baptism, church attendance, or trying to become a better person. A sinner is saved by repenting toward God and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.

THE CALL OF THE GOSPEL
WHAT THIS MEANS
You cannot save yourself. Good works cannot remove sin or make you righteous before God.
Jesus is the only Savior. Salvation is found in Christ alone.
The gospel calls for a response. Repent and believe the gospel.
