WHY DID JESUS DIE ON THE CROSS?
Jesus died on the cross because sinners cannot save themselves. He gave His life as the sacrifice for our sins, shedding His blood so sinners could be forgiven and reconciled to God.
Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for sin. His death was not only an example of love. It was a substitutionary sacrifice. He died for our sins, in our place, according to the Scriptures.
Sin is serious before a holy God. The wages of sin is death, and every person is guilty before God. Jesus died because sin required a payment that sinners could not pay for themselves.
The Lord Jesus had no sin of His own. He died for the unjust. He took the sinner’s place so that guilty people could be brought to God.
The Bible teaches that forgiveness is through the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood was not ordinary. It was the precious blood of the sinless Lamb of God.
To redeem means to buy back or set free by a price. Jesus paid the price for sinners through His own blood, not with silver, gold, religion, or human effort.
Sin separates man from God. Through the cross, Jesus made the way for sinners to be forgiven, justified, and brought near to God.
The cross shows the love of God. God did not wait for sinners to make themselves worthy. Christ died for sinners while they were still sinners.
