THE GOSPEL · LESSON 04

SAVED FROM WHAT?

THE BIBLICAL ANSWER

Salvation means deliverance. The Bible teaches that sinners need to be saved from sin, judgment, condemnation, wrath, death, and separation from God.

PRIMARY PASSAGE
CLEAR BIBLICAL ANSWER

We are not saved merely from sadness, trouble, or a difficult life. The greatest need of man is to be saved from sin and its eternal consequence. The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.

THE POWER OF THE GOSPEL
SAVED FROM SIN

Sin is man’s greatest problem. Sin separates man from God and makes man guilty before Him. Every person has sinned and needs salvation.

THE PROBLEM OF SIN
SAVED FROM JUDGMENT

The Bible teaches that every person will face God. Death is not the end. After death comes judgment. This is why salvation is necessary.

AFTER THIS THE JUDGMENT
SAVED FROM CONDEMNATION

The unbeliever is already condemned before God because of sin and unbelief. Salvation in Christ removes condemnation and brings the believer into forgiveness and life.

CONDEMNED ALREADY
NO CONDEMNATION IN CHRIST
SAVED FROM THE WRATH TO COME

God is loving, but He is also holy and righteous. His wrath is His just judgment against sin. Jesus Christ delivers believers from the wrath to come.

DELIVERED FROM WRATH
SAVED FROM ETERNAL DEATH

Sin leads to death, but God offers eternal life through Jesus Christ. Salvation is not earned by man. It is the gift of God through Christ.

THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE
SAVED FROM THE POWER OF DARKNESS

Salvation also means deliverance from the power of darkness. God brings the believer into the kingdom of His Son.

DELIVERED INTO HIS KINGDOM
WHAT THIS MEANS
Sin is serious. It separates man from God and brings judgment.
Condemnation is real. The unbeliever stands guilty before God, but Christ removes condemnation for those who believe.
Wrath is coming. Jesus Christ delivers believers from the wrath to come.
Jesus is the Savior. He came to save sinners from sin and eternal death.
SIMPLE FINAL ANSWER

We need to be saved from sin, judgment, condemnation, wrath, death, and separation from God. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, and the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.
