HOW DO I SHARE THE GOSPEL?

The believer is called to speak the truth, but only God can save the soul. This should keep you humble and faithful. Do not trust your personality, pressure, emotion, or clever words. Trust the power of the Gospel of Christ.

Keep the Gospel clear. A new believer may feel nervous about witnessing. Start with the clear Bible truths. Man is a sinner. Sin brings death and judgment. Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again. Salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Explain why people need salvation. Many people do not understand why they need to be saved. The Bible says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The Gospel begins with the truth about man’s need before God.

Sin has wages, but God offers a gift. The Bible does not hide the seriousness of sin. The wages of sin is death. But the same verse also gives the hope of the Gospel: eternal life is the gift of God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Christ died for sinners. The Gospel is not that sinners become worthy enough for God. The Gospel is that Christ died for us while we were yet sinners. His death is the proof of God’s love and the payment for sin.

Do not leave out the burial. The biblical Gospel includes Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. His burial shows that He truly died. His resurrection shows that He is the living Saviour. When you share the Gospel, keep all three parts clear.

Make clear that works do not save. Do not leave a person thinking that church attendance, baptism, good works, prayer, or personal improvement can save the soul. Salvation is the gift of God. It is not of works, lest any man should boast.

Point people to the Lord Jesus Christ. The message is not, “Trust your prayer.” The message is not, “Try your best.” The message is not, “Join my church.” The biblical answer is to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ is the Saviour.

Let the Bible speak. Your words may be weak, but God’s Word is powerful. When sharing the Gospel, use Scripture. Read the verses clearly. Explain them simply. Do not replace the Bible with pressure, stories, or arguments.

Speak truthfully and graciously. Sharing the Gospel should not be proud, harsh, careless, or manipulative. Speak the truth plainly, but remember that you also needed mercy. A faithful witness should be clear, humble, patient, and gracious.

You may tell what Christ did for you. A testimony can be helpful, but it should not replace the Gospel. Tell people how you came to understand your sin, trusted Christ, and found assurance in the Word of God. Then point them back to Scripture and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Believers represent Christ’s message. God has given believers the ministry of reconciliation. We are not preaching ourselves. We are pointing sinners to be reconciled to God through the Lord Jesus Christ.

How should I share the Gospel? Keep the message Bible-grounded, Christ-centered, and clear. Do not make salvation sound like trusting a prayer, a church, or a good feeling. Point people to the finished work of Christ and the promise of God’s Word.

The Gospel must be given with love, but it must not be changed. Do not remove sin, judgment, the blood of Christ, the death of Christ, the burial of Christ, the resurrection of Christ, or faith in Christ. A softened message that hides the truth cannot help the soul.
